Best YA Books I Read in 2009

At the end of the year it is good to go back and reflect on the past. Here are the best books that I read in 2009 in no particular order.
The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Knucklehead by Jon Scieszka
Absolutely Positively Not by David LaRochelle
The Magic Thief by Sarah Prineas
Stoneheart by Charlie Fletcher
Oh. My. Gods by Tera Lynn Childs
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Some of my favorite authors also came out with excellent books this year.

Terrier and Bloodhound by Tamora Pierce
Thirteenth Child by Patricia C. Wrede
Fledgling by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller
Found and Sent by Margaret Peterson Haddix

These are series that I really like and that continued in 2009:

Ranger's Apprentice books by John Flanagan (This series tempted me to move to Australia so that I could get the books faster.)
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
House of Night series by P. C. and Kristin Cast

I have also been enjoying all of the books in the 39 Clues series published by Scholastic this year. The website for that series is a lot of fun too.

  1. Thanks for posting. I haven't read one book by Tamora Pierce yet, even though I've had several students tell me she is a great author. I also love the Vampire Academy series, but I'm having a hard time getting through BLOOD PROMISE. I still haven't finished it. There are 3 books on your favorite of 2009 list that I haven't heard of. Thanks for giving me more books to read.
