I chose Magic Under Stone by Jaclyn Dolamore for this week's book. I really liked Magic Under Glass and can't wait to see what happens next for Erris and Nimira. Here is the description:
For star-crossed lovers Nimira and Erris, there can be no happily ever after until Erris is freed from the clockwork form in which his soul is trapped. And so they go in search of the sorcerer Ordoria Valdana, hoping he will know how to grant Erris real life again. When they learn that Valdana has mysteriously vanished, it's not long before Nimira decides to take matters into her own hands-and begins to study the sorcerer's spell books in secret. Ifra became aware of his body like a prisoner waking to find himself in chains.Ifra is a new character to the series. I am eager to find out what is happening with him. Why is he just becoming aware of his body?
Friday 56:
Now I changed from well-to-do girl of Lorinar in a fine full skirt and puffed sleeves, with my hair swept over my ears and demurely pinned, to a creature of the forest, camouflaged in cream and brown, rough and quick and ready.I am curious to know why she is changing. What was wrong with looking like a well-to-do girl?
I wonder why the change? Was there a fight about to happen?

ReplyDeleteI actually found the opening confusing, as I read "Ifra" as a girl's name and was wondering why she was aware of his body. I suppose the confusion would be overcome in the next few sentences, but it's still interesting to see how one sentence grabs you. :)
