Book Beginning & Friday 56: The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda

Happy Friday everybody!!

Book Beginnings

Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Rose City Reader.
Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading.
If you like, share with everyone why you do, or do not, like the sentence.

The Friday 56
  • Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
  • Turn to page 56.
  • Find the fifth sentence.
  • Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of Freda's Voice
  • Post a link along with your post back to Freda's Voice
Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda has made its way to the top of my review stack. I got this eARC from NetGalley for review. This book will be released on May 8.

This is a dystopia about a future world where humans are hunted almost to extinction because they are considered delicacies by the vampire population. It is told by one of the few remaining humans who is hiding in plain sight as he attempts to pass as a vampire.

There used to be more of us. I'm certain of this.
Friday 56:
His hand snaps around my forearm. I don't see it happen, he moved too fast. His nails pierce my skin, and for one horrible, sickening moment, I think those nails are about to slice through and draw blood.

  1. Wow, she's in a frightening situation. I don't see a way out for her.

  2. Wow that sounds terrifying! And I feel that there s a narrative shift between the Beginning and the F56! ;)Hop on over if you have the time:
