Stacking the Shelves (May 13, 2012)

Tynga of Tynga's Reviews is starting a new meme to spotlight the books we receive each week. She explains at her site. She also does a very nice vlog each week showing her books (and hopefully her new baby).

Another option is Mailbox Monday which was originally started by Marcia at A Girl and Her Books. She hosted it for a long time but in April 2010 she decided to make it a traveling meme. You can see all the details here. You will also find a list of the 2012 hosts.

Martha from Reviews by Martha's Bookshelf will be hosting in May.

I guarantee that your TBR pile will grow when you see all the wonderful books everyone gets. You will also discover lots of great blogs and lots of books that you won't be able to live without.

This week I added six books to my stack. Four were books for review. Here is what I got:
Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday was a book that was on sale this week for my Kindle for $2.99. I have been intrigued by this lovely cover since I first saw it but I was undecided about whether I wanted it or not. The new lower price convinced me that I had to have it.

Dead Reckoning by Mercedes Lackey and Rosemary Edghill was a NetGalley choice for me. I like both of those authors and was interested in this steampunk title. This one will be released on June 5th.
I was checking out my spreadsheet of review books and adding the date the book is to be released to my LibraryThing account when I realized that I had forgotten to add two recent acquisitions to LibraryThing. Since I create these posts based on my LibraryThing, I hadn't shown these two books. I got Skylark by Meagan Spooner and Redemption by Veronique Launier from NetGalley in the middle of April. These are coming out in August and September.

Then, at the end of the week, I received a surprise package from Ksenia at Macmillan Children's Publishing Group that contained:
A finished copy of the paperback of All These Things I've Done by Gabrielle Zevin, which I had already read and reviewed, and an ARC of the sequel Because It Is My Blood which will be released on September 18.

That was my week. What was in your mailbox or book bag this week?

  2. A nice array of books there.

Dead Reckoning looks like an interesting one based on the cover... Cowboys and Zombies.

Have a great time with your reading.

  3. Ahh, brilliant haul this week! A paperback of Deadly Cool is on its way to me... of course two days after it was ordered, it became 2.99 on Kindle! That's just how my luck goes, haha.

  4. Great books!! Skylark looks awesome. I still need to read Deadly Cool. I bought it when it came out last year. All These Things I've Done is one of those books I keep telling myself I am going to get and then don't. I almost bought it on Friday at B&N, but bought Croak instead. Thanks for stopping by my blog. :)
