Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Rose City Reader. The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice. Check out the links above for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.
The book I am spotlighting this week is The Assassin's Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke. I got this eARC from Strange Chemistry via NetGalley for review. Here is the description:
Ananna of the Tanarau abandons ship when her parents try to marry her off to an allying pirate clan: she wants to captain her own boat, not serve as second-in-command to her handsome yet clueless fiance. But her escape has dire consequences when she learns the scorned clan has sent an assassin after her.Beginning:
And when the assassin, Naji, finally catches up with her, things get even worse. Ananna inadvertently triggers a nasty curse — with a life-altering result. Now Ananna and Naji are forced to become uneasy allies as they work together to break the curse and return their lives back to normal. Or at least as normal as the lives of a pirate and an assassin can be.
I ain't never been one to trust beautiful people, and Tarrin of the Hariri was the most beautiful man I ever saw.Friday 56:
The expression on his face stopped me cold.
"You talk too much about things you don't understand," he tole me, his voice low and dark. "Come along, the Snake Shade Inn's this way."
I'm afraid after just reading this. what happens next?
ReplyDeleteFrom the cover to both snippets, I'm intrigued.
ReplyDeletePirates and curses! Sounds like a fun read!
ReplyDeleteSo....is he trustworthy? Now we need to find out.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I'd want to stay at a place called the Snake Shade Inn.
