Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
This week my teaser comes from Mystic City by Theo Lawrence. I got this Oct. 9 release through the Amazon Vine program. Here is the description:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
This week my teaser comes from Mystic City by Theo Lawrence. I got this Oct. 9 release through the Amazon Vine program. Here is the description:
For fans of Matched, The Hunger Games, X-Men, and Blade Runner comes a tale of a magical city divided, a political rebellion ignited, and a love that was meant to last forever. Book One of the Mystic City Novels.
Aria Rose, youngest scion of one of Mystic City's two ruling rival families, finds herself betrothed to Thomas Foster, the son of her parents' sworn enemies. The union of the two will end the generations-long political feud—and unite all those living in the Aeries, the privileged upper reaches of the city, against the banished mystics who dwell below in the Depths. But Aria doesn't remember falling in love with Thomas; in fact, she wakes one day with huge gaps in her memory. And she can't conceive why her parents would have agreed to unite with the Fosters in the first place. Only when Aria meets Hunter, a gorgeous rebel mystic from the Depths, does she start to have glimmers of recollection—and to understand that he holds the key to unlocking her past. The choices she makes can save or doom the city—including herself.
I feel like my body has been taken over by puppeteers. I'm so tired, and even as I dress, I feel the strings above my head being pulled -- by Dr. May, by my mother and father, by Thomas. No one gets close enough to touch me; they maneuver me from above.
What a visual teaser! I know I feel like a puppet on strings sometimes. I have this book but I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet. This teaser makes me want to move it to the top of the pile. Thanks for sharing & stopping by my teaser! Happy Tuesday! :D
