This week my teaser comes from One + One = Blue by MJ Auch. This middle grade title is the final ARC on my stack from Macmillan Children's Publishing Group's Winter 2013 catalog. It will be released on April 30. Here is the description:
Twelve year-old Basil knows he’s special—he’s been associating numbers with colors since he was a kid. His gift (or curse) has turned him into somewhat of a loner, but his world begins to change when he meets Tenzie, the new girl in school who has similar freakisms. She, too, has synesthesia (a condition in which one type of stimulation evokes the sensation of another). At first, Basil is somewhat annoyed with Tenzie’s pushiness, but after Basil’s estranged mother returns, his life is turned upside down . . . and Tenzie may be the only person to help him put it back together again.Teaser:
Once again, MJ Auch has written a thoughtful coming-of-age novel that explores friendship, family, and fitting in.
That's when I looked over at Tenzie and realized she was crying. I didn't know what to say. I hadn't cried since I was a little kid. This would be the hitch with having a friend because it would be my responsibility to ask what was wrong and try to make it better, wouldn't it?
I haven't seen this one before, but I'm drawn in by the teaser and the blurb. Thanks for sharing.

I just saw a review for this one this week. Looks cute. I don't read a lot of mid-grade though.
