My teaser this week comes from Monument 14: Sky on Fire by Emmy Laybourne. I got this ARC from Macmillan Children's Publishing group. It is the sequel to Monument 14 which I read and enjoyed. Here is the description of this May 28 release:
Trapped in a superstore by a series of escalating disasters, including a monster hailstorm and terrifying chemical weapons spill, brothers Dean and Alex learned how to survive and worked together with twelve other kids to build a refuge from the chaos. But then strangers appeared, destroying their fragile peace, and bringing both fresh disaster and a glimmer of hope.Teaser:
Knowing that the chemical weapons saturating the air outside will turn him into a bloodthirsty rage monster, Dean decides to stay in the safety of the store with Astrid and some of the younger kids. But their sanctuary has already been breached once. . . .
Meanwhile, Alex, determined to find their parents, heads out into the darkness and devastation with Niko and some others in a recently repaired school bus. If they can get to Denver International Airport, they might be evacuated to safety. But the outside world is even worse than they expected. . . .
Astrid looked at us, at me. The fury in her sky-blue eyes receded, slowly, until finally she closed them and her whole body softened underneath me.
I stayed on top of her until she said, hoarsely, "I'm all right."
Although this is not usually a genre I read I found your teaser quite intriguing. Check my TT out here: http://meandu-justthinking.blogspot.ca/2013/05/teaser-tuesday-52113.html
ReplyDeleteFantastic teaser! Makes me wonder what happened for her to get in that state. I definitely want to check this series out because it sounds like my kind of thing :) thanks so much for sharing your teaser and stopping by my TT! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser! I teach fourth grade and I was looking for some media specialist blogs to follow. I love hearing about books for younger readers. I also have a 10 year old son myself so he will be reading these types of books soon. Definitely putting this book on my TBR list. I'll check out the first one also.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my teaser!
