Friday Memes: The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Happy Friday everybody!!
Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Rose City Reader. The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice. Check out the links above for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

This week I am spotlighting The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I got this eARC from Disney via NetGalley after hearing good things about it. Here is the description of this Nov. 5 release:
Seventeen-year-old Cassie is a natural at reading people. Piecing together the tiniest details, she can tell you who you are and what you want. But, it's not a skill that she's ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI come knocking: they've begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie.

What Cassie doesn't realize is that there's more at risk than a few unsolved homicides-especially when she's sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own. Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. And when a new killer strikes, danger looms close. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with a killer, the Naturals are going to have to use all of their gifts just to survive.

Think The Mentalist meets Pretty Little Liars-Jennifer Lynn-Barnes' The Naturals is a gripping psychological thriller with killer appeal, a to-die-for romance, and the bones of a gritty and compelling new series.
Beginning:
The hours were bad. The tips were worse, and the majority of my co-workers definitely left something to be desired, but c'est la vie, que sera sera, insert foreign language cliché of your choice here.
Friday 56:
"You said that you'll provide training, and that in exchange I'll be consulting for you. Consulting on what, exactly? Training for what?"

  2. The beginning, as well as your Friday 56 choice, intrigued me. Although I don't read much YA, this sounds like a story I'd enjoy.
