Friday Memes: Tin Star by Cecil Castellucci

Happy Friday everybody!!
Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Rose City Reader. The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice. Check out the links above for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

This week I am spotlighting Tin Star by Cecil Castellucci. I got this ARC from Macmillan Children's Publishing Group. Here is the description of this Feb. 25 release:
On their way to start a new life, Tula and her family travel on the Prairie Rose, a colony ship headed to a planet in the outer reaches of the galaxy. All is going well until the ship makes a stop at a remote space station, the Yertina Feray, and the colonist's leader, Brother Blue, beats Tula within an inch of her life. An alien, Heckleck, saves her and teaches her the ways of life on the space station.

When three humans crash land onto the station, Tula's desire for escape becomes irresistible, and her desire for companionship becomes unavoidable. But just as Tula begins to concoct a plan to get off the space station and kill Brother Blue, everything goes awry, and suddenly romance is the farthest thing from her mind.
There are few things colder than the blackness of space. But lying here, I couldn't imagine anything colder than the Human heart that left me half-conscious at this entrance to Docking Bay 12.
Friday 56:
For the first time in forever, my heart seemed light. But I could tell that Tournour did not feel that way, and I knew that Heckleck, with his myriad conspiracy theories would not be happy with the Imperium's arrival either.

  1. Oh I love a good SF, this one sounds great. Wonderful Friday shares.

  2. I like the sound of this one -- sci-fi but not so strange that it's hard to believe! Here's the link to my Friday post: STRONGER THAN THE REST.

  3. Lovely cover :) and I like the way the book sounds from that beginning and the choice for Friday 56
    Thanks for sharing

  4. Do you think you will get this for your library? Do you think it will have appeal for teens? Anne's Friday Post

  5. What a beautiful cover!
Intriguing start, it pulls you in. And the 56 as well!

Happy weekend and happy Valentines day!

  6. Look at that gorgeous cover! This sounds like a wonderful scifi adventure. I'd love for you to stop by my Friday 56 post.

  7. Captivating beginning!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I lost the last four weeks to a nasty bug and a broken laptop, but I finally feel better and have a new computer.

    Thanks for posting on BBOF!

  8. LOL I'm the queen of the conspiracy theories, so I'd keep reading!

    Linking from Friday 56,
