Friday Memes: Elusion by Claudia Gabel and Cheryl Klam

Happy Friday everybody!!
Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Rose City Reader. The Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice. Check out the links above for the rules and for the posts of the participants each week. Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

This week I am spotlighting Elusion by Claudia Gabel and Cheryl Klam. This is a science fiction story that I chose from Edelweiss for review. It will be released on March 18. Here is the description:
The mind-blowing beginning of a futuristic series about the seductive nature of a perfect virtual world and how far one girl will go to uncover the truth behind the illusions.

A new technology is sweeping the country. To enter Elusion®, you need an app, a visor, and a wristband and you'll be virtually transported to an exotic destination where adventure comes without the complications or consequences of real life. When there are accusations that Elusion is addictive and dangerous, Regan is determined to defend it and is pulled into incredible new worlds to discover deeply buried truths and to make the ultimate choice between love and loyalty. . . .

Full of thrilling mystery, romance, and intriguing technology, this Inception-inspired thriller is perfect for fans of dystopian and sci-fi novels such as Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, Matched by Ally Condie, and Partials by Dan Wells.
"Don't be scared, Regan," my father says. "I'll be next to you the whole time, I promise."
Friday 56:
I dig my fingernails into my hand, hoping the sting and pressure in my palms will distract me.
I will not cry. I will not cry. I will not cry.

  1. I have been reading quite a few YA Science Fiction books lately. This one sounds like another good one. Here is my post: Mixed Book Bag

  2. Some sci-fi books appeal to me; others don't. This sounds like one I would enjoy. Thank you for posting the synopsis along with excerpts.
Here's the link to my Friday post: WEB OF TYRANNY.

  3. What a whimsical kind of cover!
Hard to stay scared with your dad by your side. :-)
The 56 I felt like I read it before though, and not from this book. Odd, right?!

    Happy weekend!
