TBR Pile (May 28, 2014)

I have a confession to make. I have a massive TBR pile.

I'd like to blame it on blogging. After all, I see hundreds of lovely books each week as I visit from blog to blog. Or maybe I can blame it on my Amazon Prime account and the ease of the one-click button. I am faced with incredible temptation each time I go on my computer. ;-)

However, I have always had a massive TBR pile. Maybe not this massive but my eyes have always been bigger than my reading time. As of today, according to LibraryThing, I have 217 print books on my pile. Here is a look at the beauties that are waiting for me.
First Half

Second Half
Some of these books have been waiting for years. I began my LibraryThing account in February of 2008 and 8 of these were added to the stack then. Who knows how long I had them before I began the account. There are only three from 2009.

I began to blog at the end of 2009. It was then that my stack began to get out of control. Since I have been getting books for review, I have had less time to read the books I buy. This year I seem to have finally recognized this as a problem and have, thus far in 2014, only added 24 books to the pile.

I'm not sure what kind of plan I should have. Would you read the oldest ones first? Would you read the ones you bought because everyone was talking about them? Would you read the ones that complete series?

I'm going to have some time this summer to tackle this stack. What would you suggest I read first?

P.S. I go through these shelves at least twice a year and remove books I don't think I will ever get to either because I can't remember why I chose them in the first place or because my students have been asking for them. I donate them to my high school media center where I will still have access to them for at least the next couple of years.

PPS. Did I mention that I have a Kindle? Want to know how many YA books I have there?

  1. Haha! No advice, because I have shelvs of unread books. I don't seem to be able to stop accumulating books that I will never get to. But I have to say, at least this year I am ALMOST keeping up!
