It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
Other Than Reading...
The big event this week was a retirement party for two of my colleagues from the Elementary School. Both had worked at this district for almost 40 years and both are looking forward to spending time traveling and visiting family. I was a little envious but I just have one year left and then I will retire too.
Our weather is alternating between lovely days in the high 70s and days with thunderstorms. Why is it that the outdoor activities always happen on the days with storms?
Our last teacher workshop/workday of the year is Friday. Students finish on Thursday at about 1 PM. At the Elementary we have been doing workshop sorts of activities since the kids finished on May 22. It is getting harder and harder to move around the elementary building as the construction people and displaced stuff seem to be everywhere.
Read Last Week
I picked two books from TBR mountain to read last week.
Rogue by Julie Kagawa was the sequel to Talon. I thought it was better than the first book. My review will be posted on June 10.
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard was an excellent debut novel. I enjoyed this epic fantasy despite the fact that it is the first book in a trilogy and I will have to wait and wait to read the rest. My review will be posted on June 17.
I went back to my review stack for the next two books I read.
Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway was a contemporary story about friendship lost and found. Oliver was kidnapped by his father when he was in Second Grade. This changed his best friend Emmy's life in many ways. Life changes again when he comes back home at seventeen. This excellent story will be released on June 23. My review will be posted on June 18.
I also read The Leveler by Julia Durango. This science fiction story has Nixy going into a virtual reality game to retrieve Wyn only to learn that he is being held in the game against his will. A group has kidnapped him to force his father to shut down the game. This was action-packed and engaging. My review will be posted on June 20.
Currently
My next YA book is going to be Seeker by Arwin Elys Dayton. I bought this one and want to read and donate it to my MS/HS Media Center. It is my goal this year to read in 2015 what I buy in 2015. Reading this one soon will help me reach that goal.
Next Week
Then it is back to review books.
Between Us and the Moon by Rebecca Maizel is the last June release on my TBR stack. This is a contemporary coming-of-age story and romance. It will be released on June 30.
Don't Ever Change by M. Beth Bloom is the first of eight July releases on my stack. It is another coming-of-age novel. It will be released on July 7.

You can check Inside of a Dog to see what adult books I read, reviewed, and plan to read.
I loved Emmy and Oliver and I liked The Red Queen. I still haven't read Talon though it is on my TBR pile. I still have many books to get caught up on!
ReplyDeleteHope the rest of your school year goes well.
Retirement has no appeal, which is good, since I CAN'T retire for about 20 more years! One of our teachers retired 12 years ago and still volunteers every day. That would be me, so I would just as soon get paid!
ReplyDeleteOh nice! I looooved Rogue! Still need to read Red Queen and I am very intrigued by the Leveller! Hope you enjoy your reads this week!

Have a GREAT day!

You've managed to accomplish a lot of reading this week. I'm hoping that next year will be my last year. I'm getting close to being ready. The big worry is that I will stay longer than I should...
ReplyDeleteWow! Lots of great books! Red Queen looks good, but it is so hard to wait for the rest of a series to come out! #bookproblems
ReplyDeleteLots of reading! I too am whittling away my review stack. They sneak up on me. ;)
