It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (November 2, 2015)

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is a meme begun by Sheila at Book Journey. Kellee at Unleashing Readers and Jen at Teach Mentor Texts have given it a kidlit focus.

It’s Monday!  What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

Other Than Reading...

This has been another quiet week. It is definitely fall-like. The skies are gray and there is rain or drizzle almost every day. It should make for quality reading time but, since I discovered Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook, I have spent hours upon hours trying to rack up high scores and meet challenges. Of course, I've been watching the World Series too. What that means is I'm not getting much reading done. It doesn't help that the adult book I decided to read this week wasn't very good at keeping my interest.

I have been working at paring down my TBR mountains. I have filled four brown paper grocery bags with adult books that I don't think I'll ever read. I have also filled three bags of YA for my high school media center and half a bag of Middle Grade books for my elementary media center. I am down to only 466 print adult books and 176 print young adult books including review copies. Of course, if you add back the Kindle books and SYNC audio books I've accumulated, my To Read stack number 1952. It is just nice to get under 2000.

October was a good reading month. I read 23 books with 7660 pages. Thirteen of the books were from my TBR mountains and the other ten were review books.

Read Last Week
I read The Tournament at Gorlan by John Flanagan and enjoyed meeting Halt as a young man. My review will be posted on December 19.

I also had a chance to meet Willowdean Dickson when I read Dumplin' by Julie Murphy. I can see why this book is getting so much buzz. It was great. My review will be posted on December 24.

I am finally getting a chance to read Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo.
Next Week
It is back to review books for the foreseeable future. My whole January calendar is full of them.

The Iron Warrior by Julie Kagawa is the final book in her Iron Fey series. I have enjoyed all the rest and can't wait to read this one.

You can check Inside of a Dog (my other blog) to see what adult books I read, reviewed, and plan to read.

  1. I LOVED Six of Crows! It was fun to return to Bardugo's amazing world. I hope you enjoy it too!

  2. I'm always impressed by the number of books you read! It is good to downsize too. I have a bunch of books I will never read that I need to get rid of too.

I loved Dumplin. I ordered a copy for my library's teen collection too.

  3. OOoh nice! I still need to read Six of Crows myself! As it is I am reading The Iron Warrior and as much as I am dragging my feet about getting to the final end, I am really enjoying it! Happy Reading!

    Here's my Monday Wrapup

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. I'm looking forward to your reviews, especially Dumplin', because I've heard a lot of buzz about it. Have a great week!

  5. I laughed when I read about your discovery of Bejeweled Blitz. My downfall these days is Netflix and my need to get some knitting accomplished before Christmas. Because of you, I just picked up the first in the Ranger's Apprentice series as an audiobook. Hopefully I will have a chance to knit and get a book inside me.

  6. Sometimes it feels good to purge books and make room for new ones. ;-) I want to read Dumplin'!
